Here’s my take on the question you asked. American presidents have always acted like they were the police of the whole world. That’s why they were dragged into so many far away wars. As for the countries you mentioned, we were at war with Afghanistan and ISIS. ISIS was not a country but they controlled large areas in several countries in the Middle East. We sided with many other countries in the fight against ISIS. Libya was a NATO-led operation. Yemen attacked Saudi Arabia and we supported the Saudi-led coalition operations. In Somalia we conducted airstrikes and raids against al-Qaeda under the AUMF. I’m sure you remember that al-Qaeda attacked the US. In Pakistan we targeted strikes against the Taliban and al-Qaeda. That’s where we killed bin Laden. The terrorists attacked us first and we fought back together with many other Western countries. Were all those targets vetted? You tell me. In most cases we were fighting alongside other countries and not doing this stuff on our own.
This situation with the boat is a bit different. We are not at war with Venezuela and I sure hope we don’t start one. I’m sticking to my statement: Labelling people a terrorist or drug trafficker does not make them a lawful target. They could have easily just stopped the boat and arrested the people. We can’t start shooting boats out of the water and planes out of the sky and claim there were drug traffickers on board because other countries might start doing that too.

I enjoyed your argument “If the US was a completely corrupt nation”. There are a lot of people who think the US is now led by a convicted felon (and who knows what he’s hiding in the Epstein files) and therefore not trustworthy anymore.
