We were thrilled to have Fred Tomaselli's gorgeous humming bird art for the album cover, but I still needed photos for the record package and promo. Time was tight as I'd been focused on finishing the sessions at Brooklyn Recording, and I realized I didn't have a plan. Fortunately, photographer Ted Barron, whose work I admired and knew from our Williamsburg days, was available to come over to my house on a random Tuesday morning in February. I don't love getting my picture taken - I'm one of those "but what do I do with my hands?" people. This being a DIY situation, I was doing my own hair and I really misjudged the timing of the hot rollers - the curls came out huge and would not tame. I pulled on my hair and doused it in product to calm it down. Ted was patient while I was melting down, and Rachel Liebling came to the rescue with wardrobe and moral support. Eventually, we moved from the coffee phase of the shoot to the bottle of wine phase - taking my apartment apart and rebuilding it along the way. In retrospect, a fun day working with friends, just trying to capture something - I think we got there eventually!
