If those in power were like you Marty, perhaps....but we simply have to take Trump at his word here.
It would be irresponsible for our leaders not to.
His remarks to Canada totally denigrated our Prime Minister, and he made realistic threats.
So he has created the conditions where we will not sit back, relax, and wait

And the size of our GDP vs yours is not the issue....trade is.
We have lots of dry powder in our economic arsenal as Federal and Provincial borrowings as a % of GDP is much lower that the USA, plus we have very important items the USA needs
AND Trump has galvanized us ....so we will stare you down.

Marty, it is not you....but Canada will make it so that Americans will feel the effects so that you put pressure on your leaders to get rid of the illegal tariffs...... ( we see it as illegal because a) Trump lied about the security of our borders vs Fentanyl as being his reason to be able to use National Security reasons and b) CUSMA is up for renewal next year at which time he could have negotiated his grievances...meaning he broke that trade agreement...the same he called great before because it was negotiated under his first watch when called it great)

We simply cannot trust the current US administration...full stop. We cannot trust the cabal of billionaires running the country with him....full stop.
