It depends on where your statistics come from Steve. Using Statista, Canada's not even in the first 26 countries. Besides these statistics are impossible to measure. Too many variables. Depends on what they're using to compile the data. As far as successful surgeries... example, the surgeons they're getting the success rate from are either poor surgeons (more bad outcomes), or great surgeons (more good outcomes). I did know one Canadian that had to wait for 6 months for cancer surgery. And he had to travel 400 miles. Also, Canadian taxes are 52% higher than the USA. Most of which goes to their health system. As far as the USA, my wife and I have had great experiences with good doctors and great surgeons.
Hey Everett. I was just debunking the myth that Canada’s healthcare is free. I’m sure our tax rate is higher. About 20% of our taxes go to health insurance like Medicare, Obamacare and Medicaid.
John, when you use "one Canadian" example to prove your point....it doesn't resonate....I've used our system, as an adult, for 60 years, longest wait, ever, including last year...about 90 minutes...that's just as silly a point....and it seems you know little about Canadian geography....about 90% of our population lives within 100 miles of the USA ...in a country with 3 million+ square miles(2nd largest country on earth)...thousands of Canadians have to travel hundreds of miles for surgery. I live in rural Nova Scotia and I can walk to the hospital in 15 minutes...it depends on where you live...and yes, there may be a wait for it...but that is not the norm
I'm not sure that Canadians ever say our system is free....so I'm not sure what you are debunking....my comment was..."what's a doctor's bill? In Canada...I have never had to pay for doctor care or hospital care as is the case with most citizens...doctors are primarily paid by the gov....and we have excellent doctors in Canada
Of course we are going to pay more in taxes than in the US...why? That's because we pay for about 70% of our health care costs through taxation.. And yes we do have private insurance for such things as dental care..but that is also changing as we speak... But we also have higher taxes for another big reason....Our population base does not support our land mass...it costs a lot of money to run a country 3,855,100 square miles in size with 40.1 million people...as s minimum we need about 500,000 immigrants, yearly, just to maintain what we have....take away 290+- million people from your land????
I don't know how many people are uninsured when seeing a doctor/going to a hospital in the US....in Canada 0% +-
Anyway, my original comment was said in jest to Ben but would Canadians want to move to a system like the US, even with all our warts, some, might, but I know "one Canadian" who won't "ME".....Our health care system is just fine thank you, and I get to live longer than the average American....hmmmm....I wonder why that is? Might it have something to do with the quality of health care provided in Canada vs the US.... LOLOL
Creators of music have a responsibility to their craft. When they have finished using all the notes and words, they must pass them down to the next generation with a simple request. “Use these to create new music.”...Steven McDonald
