First off John Roberts is not any judge but the Head Judge of SCOTUS and therefore the USA.
If you poopoo his rebuke or see it just another day in the office in getting illegals out, then your end justifies the means argument simply descends us into the age when strong men ruled and the weak endured. It is why political systems evolved and laws were invented.
Totally get they did awful things Americans will be spared from and the USA is better off without them Totally get there are many Americans glad he did this the way he did and it was an election promise kept
But John Roberts and his SCOTUS have allowed him to grow Presidential power which he is exercising and being rebuked for in this particular instance
Robert's rebuke is important (LOL may even go down in history as Robert's Rebuke with its own Wikipedia Page and everything) . Your argument of victims spared is also important to victims, their families and communities and they must feel safer
But Trump over reached. His words as President matter. As a private citizen I expect his free speech protection was intact. As President there are larger considerations and issues at play where his words matter more I am glad Roberts is reminding him of this
Oh and your free speech argument is flawed because in Trump's case it is limited by the responsibilities of his office, by tradition and law. He is an individual American with private citizen free speech protect rights when he is a private citizen He is not both.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop
