On the River Bend

I found my spot on the river bend, my favorite tree to my back,
The river’s running low and slow, so I brought my old friend Jack.
I've packed my troubles with me, the ones that bring me down,
I find that peace I'm looking for, far away from my home town,
The Leaves, they just float away, upon the river's tide,
I sit silent on the river bed, bidding my sorrows goodbye.

I’m sitting on the river bank, letting my troubles float away,
I take another swig of Jack, lord give me strength today.
No I don't think I'm a weak man, but anyone can break,
Sometimes it seems like this old world gives you more, more than you can take.

We all carry a dark past, wicked acts that we can't share.
We'd like to shout it to the World, hoping no one else would care.
But that's not the world we live in, so I bring my troubles here.
And drop them in river that looks so clean and clear,
Then I take a big swig of that whiskey, and I chase, I chase it with a beer.

I’m sitting on the river bank, letting my troubles float away,
I take another swig of Jack, lord give me strength today.
No I don't think I'm a weak man, but anyone can break,
Sometimes it seems like this old world gives you more, more than you can take.

I look down at my reflection, and I see a stranger there,
Hiding secrets in the shadows, of the things that I can't bear.
The current keeps the silence, it never asks for names,
It just takes the weight and pulls it down, and washes out the stains.
The time sitting by the river, gives me strength for another day,
The whiskey and clear water, helps me wash, wash the pain away

So take another swig of Jack…
Down on that river bend…
Sometimes it seems like this old world…
……gives you more…….,
……..gives you more than you can stand.
