Trade between countries does not have to balance out and you and the Don don't get that
Canada will renegotiate a new deal (4th time with US) then the trade deficit starts again....It's the imbalance of markets between the countries and of course dumb US negotiators and a really dumb fellow signing the CUSMA that create the deficit

That is the situation at its core. You dont want to believe it because your "happy ending" depends on it not being true, but it is.

I don't think that the US and Canada are going to throw down. The US has a much bigger concern and it appears that the US is in-process of aligning its forces against that concern.
But if they ever do and the US cuts Canada off from the market buys 3/4 of its exports, Canada would run out of oxygen long before the US.

So, simply approach this fairly.
