John,

I think I was listening to MSNBC or CNN the other day and some guy made a point that sounded insightful. He said,

The abolition of tariffs is for the benefit of Wall Street and the wealthy. It is globalist.
The installation of tariffs is for the benefit of Main Street and assembly line workers. It is populist.

Trump is a populist. He is wealthy, but he trades in populism.
He destroyed the political machines that tried to destroy him because he has legions of people who support everything he does. And have no concern for his faults.
When that bullet grazed his ear, that sealed the deal and brought the outspoken admiration of people like Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

The takeaway is that your leaders are going to have to learn to deal with him.
He is the single biggest personality that has occurred in the West since I have been alive.

Like him or hate him to the marrow, he has achieved cultural "greatness."
He has taken over culture and become the clock that the western world now sets itself to. You and I have lived in TrumpWorld for going on a decade.
And lucky you, he is president of the country that you lucky Canadians live next to. Keep your seat belt securely fastened.
