Call It What You Want
Be kind and understanding when you step on people’s toes
Place is loud and it is crowded and you know the way it goes
Next thing boyfriend takes offence
To something you hadn’t meant
And sure enough you’ll feel it all tomorrow

Be buoyant and triumphant when you’re bouncing on the waves
Hope that folks won’t feel the same way dancing on your grave
Nothing ’s ever really clear
Even as we stand revealed
Programmed little children who’ve been sent outside to play

Where there’s evil imitation there’s a line up in the hall
Sometimes toxic, biologic, firing synapses on full
Sometimes second glances rule
Sometimes bigger glaring looks
Come from those would be bigger overlords

Nobody is just one thing not all is as it appears
So be it if I’m a monster if that’s what’s in the mirror
But inside’s entirely different place
Different circumstance and phase
No longer little children who’ve been sent outside to play

Where there’s evil imitation there’s a line up in the hall
Sometimes toxic, biologic, firing synapses on full
Sometimes second glances rule
Sometimes bigger glaring looks
Come from those who would be bigger overlords

If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop
