I always try to pleasant. Like the kid in your street anecdote. He's sincerely trying to do something good with his life and slamming him down would say a lot of bad things about the slammer. If they wont let me go, I resort to....

I've never really had someone step over that and keep coming. I've seen a couple look like they wanted to but they didn't. Vocal and countenance matter too. Need to sound cordial but resolute.
