Hi John..

I'm sorry that my tone was facetious..

this whole thing is just nuts..

I understand what you're saying, and I agree..

In the real world this isn't going to be a hinderance to most guys who do what I do..

My question was...
If I were to adhere to the letter of the law..
How would I do that ?

What is the actual fee per song..how do I find that out ?
If the writer is not associated with a PRO and the law says he or she or they must be paid...how do I determine how much I owe ?
If this is, indeed, a "law", then what are the penalties for non-adherence ?

Essentially, I'm asking, what do I have to do to conduct my business in a legal manner ?

Am I supposed to contact each writer of each song to get permission to play their songs ?

I'm asking real questions that I would ask if I were inquiring about any other law that I found out I was breaking.

It goes beyond ASCAP etc...those are licensing outfits...that's not the "law".

What's the law say ?

How do I pay someone who does not belong to ASCAP or BMI or anybody else ?

I really am curious....

Bob
