From what I gleaned from my talks with venue owners the other day, the APRA fees to them are by no means bank breaking.
In fact, I don't see how they alone would cover the yearly pay out to writers of songs played over the period.
Never the less. I do believe in the APRA annual reprts I have read the gross incoming and outgoing s are listed.
I will see if I can find a copy.
Next one should be out soon anyway.
Given the reciricols in force now, I don't see it matters how many pros there are, provided a venue only has to licience threough any one of them.
And the fees charged are the same.
I do concede one body per country would make it a bit easier maybe though.
Typing that brought to mind that I think I read somewhere the payout to writers from the individual pros varies.
May be wrong on that though.
Any BMI and ASCAP members who have had the experience fill us in there??????
The news that artists/songwriter/members are apparently overstaing their original song play lists to cheat both their fellow writer/members and their PRO is a bit of sad news.
No doubt leaving off the songs of other writers they are singing to do so given most pros would know only X amout of songs will fit into anu gig timewise.
The submittong of play lists is really not all that hard or time consuming.
After all, they would have a list of what they were playing anyway, and everybody in business has to do the bookwork for it to work properly.
Probably playing mostly the same songs from gig to gig anyway, so it is really only dates and venues that need to be entered on the sheet each gig.
Or weekly/monthly/yearly if they prefer.
