That same plumber has a job to do and decides it would be best done with a tool he doesn't own, so he either buys the tool, or hires it.
Or knows a bloke with one and asks to borrow it.
Same thing applies with the tools of a performer's trade.
And the fill the playlist in thing is basically the same as the hire it thing.
Bit hard to get hold of most of the owners of the covers a performer would deam as something the punters would want to pay him to perform, so the play list return is really the only way it can work.
For the smalltime writer, it is in fact often the only return they are ever likely to see.
I don't see a lot of merit in the they are doing the writer a favour getting them heard so why should they pay thing.
If an artist want to earn money off it, it is fair enough they pay the hire fee.

The theory forum is a great litle place to be.
I've got my lastest bit of music that blossomed from it almost done.
And the previous one is already up on my SongRamp site.
Soundclick is still giving me grief in the upload a song thing.
