Sool our pros on to them sounds a wise move to me. maybe - but what happens when every small time club/internet radio station/corner bar/coffeeshop/etc/etc that provides an outlet for undiscovered or entry-level talent goes away because of lawsuits? is that *really* good for anybody? people deserve to get paid for their songs, but *nobody* benefit from that climate except lawyers, rights orgs, and owners of songs that are big enough to garner significant play on the radio/jukebox/cover band. a more fair solution would be to approach club owners that are known to be in "violation" with some sort of amenable deal that would guarantee sustainable future business - rather than fining/suing somebody out of business for maximum short term profit. on a side note: i'm not a member of a pro, and i've also never once had a club ask me for a playlist. not that it would matter - because my set it all my own stuff. but i play approx 50 gigs a year -- not princely by any means but still a decent amount. i'm kind of surprised it hasn't come up. ------------------ kit malone http://www.kitmalone.com

"Do not endeavor to be the smartest kid in a dumb class. Instead, you are better off being the dumbest kid in the smartest class, where you will be challenged and you will learn. If you aren't growing, you are dying." -Brian Austin Whitney
