I NEVER watch the show. I do watch the rewind auditions sometimes with my wife cause they are funny.

This week I heard THEE RIFF "Whole Lotta Love" so i had to go see what it was. And I watched my first full episode of American Idol smile

And since it was ROCK week I thought lets see what's what.

What I caught was a LOT of them doing the WRONG songs. Do they have a choice?
Or do they have to choose from two? I don't know the rules.

All I had to do was hear them for 10 seconds to know what songs they should be doing and not doing, Besides having some strategy.

I have NEVER heard any of them before but here's what I thought.

ADAM - Has a face I would like to take a little swipe at, gentle like but ya know LOL... But he has GREAT pipes. And his range and control are both terrific. He does have some theatre in his voice and style. The BLUES is what's missing from him and of course Robert Plant has that... But he was the best of the night no doubt.

If your allowed to pick a song...

HERE"S the mistakes- ENERGY SONGS! After Adam does Whole Lotta Love you HAVE to do songs with a non stop energy no coming down and then building up.

Alison - What are you thinking with that song? Do "MAGIC MAN" by Heart or Barracudda. These songs ROCK and they belt as Ann Wilson is what you;ll need to even get into Zeppelins world at all at least. Bad song I knew that as soon as she said what she was going to sing,

Chris - NO BEATLES! As a Beatles freak but even more as a music LOVER.I KNOW The BEST Beatles songs are mid-tempo ones and ballad like. They have great unique middle feel songs that is totally original to the Beatles.
They are not the best Fast or Hard Rock Band.
What are your choices - Helter Skelter,BAck In The USSR, Revolution, Get Back..
HELLO! None of these work. Dumb move! he was out of Rock night anyway If I were him I would have just went for Peter Frampton's "Show Me The Way"

Danny - he would have done WAY better doing Renegade all by himself than "Dream On"
Plain and simple after Adam you must do "BABBA O RILEY" for those who don't know "Teen Age Wasteland" lol by The WHO or another WHO monster Rock song.
Actually Danny could have even went basic with a Southern Rock style song like ZZ Tops "Tush" Or Rock N Roll Hootchie Koo"

C'mon guys "Highway Star" or something. Ya gotta be high energy after "Whole Lotta Love"

The main reason why the duet of Renegade sounded so good if your wondering when they sang together was those GIRLS singing in the background.
Even on that they should have planned it better, Not line for line but let Chris back uo on the harmony only and then just take the smaller lines, leading too
"I'm a Wanted Man"

Bad choice of songs! but the first guy can have his pick with that range. Only he's theatre bound from what I hear. It was like going to see a GREAT ROCK PLAY and they are performing "Tommy" or something. You leave going wow those singers dancers and musicians were GREAT!

But never could be the Actual artists or writers but..... very well done!

Thanks!
Peace Mike
