TOP 4, MAY 5/09...
...I am losing interest in hearing the judging panel. Four is too many. It would be more effective to have three judges who have more time to give longer critiques to help the singers (and the public) understand what they need to work on. As a voice teacher and composer, etc., feedback from those more experienced than I is a crucial part of my growth. I'd like to hear more notes on singing and performance, and less 'you're the bomb, dog,' 'that's artistry,' 'you look great tonight,' 'that was boring.' That IS boring. ... Yeah, and I don't want to tune into a soap opera of Paula and Simon's latest romp in a hotel room or how their "relationship" is doing either. Maybe it's time to bring in some new blood to the judges desk. Kara is not impressing me: she's off the mark as often as on - and I'm kind of P.O.'ed that she gets to write the winning song because she threw a hissy fit about it last year. Nice negotiating, but bad for the "gene pool" of fresh songwriters.

"Do not endeavor to be the smartest kid in a dumb class. Instead, you are better off being the dumbest kid in the smartest class, where you will be challenged and you will learn. If you aren't growing, you are dying." -Brian Austin Whitney
