Originally posted by Brian Austin Whitney: Von, Your own post contradicts itself. TAXI works with both Fox Sports and the Discover Channel. If they both licensed your music, then that proves that not all TAXI listings are ONLY looking for generic sound-alikes. Something else I'd like to point out, as you may know, I have worked in the movie industry as well. First, in special effects and then in production and direction. I even provided the entire underscore for the movie, 'Forever', as a part of the group, The RH Factor, (it's in the IMDB). When a producer finds someone that does a competent job for them, in whatever capacity, they usually choose to go back to them on the next picture they produce. For the most part, so do music supervisors. Once they have a good working relationship with a musician/composer, they will usually continue that relationship from film to film to film. It's easier to keep working with someone you know and trust to get the job done. I've spoken with a few music supervisors that say they go to a place like TAXI as a last resort. If they are looking for a specific piece to portray a certain scene as they hear it, and they don't have it from their usual sources, they will go to TAXI, or a music library, looking for that specific piece of music. So, when a super is going to a place like TAXI, they trust that TAXI's screeners will forward to them songs that fit their exact criteria. The best bet for a group like ours is to find an up and coming Tim Burton, like Danny Elfman did, and provide unique and innovative music that fits the unique and innovative visions he (or she) puts on the screen... That or produce movies on our own and put our own music in them... hehehe...
