Another good post, Davey. Apparently you're the only one here who can grasp my complaint, in spite of the fact that I've outlined it about 20 times now.
I also agree with the rest of your post regarding commercial vs artistic success. Of course it'll be dismissed as the whining of a frustrated wannabe, but anyone with an ear can turn on the radio for 10 minutes and know whether it's all about quality or all about the dough-re-mi.
