i've been a Taxi member for 2 going on 3 years. I joined for the critiques, and I've been satisfied with the advice and suggestions I've got.

this morning I called Taxi because I was not satisfied with the last two critiques I recieved. One suggested that I 'forget about pitching this song' because it was 'topical' and 'topical songs never get cut'. This was a 'custom' critique and I specifically asked how and what genre to pitch this particular song. The other submission was for an R&B listing, the same song, and the only thing the critique suggested was that it was 'not current sounding'- i thought I deserved more feedback. I talked with Alex for about 40 minutes and he said that he had other complaints about this particular screener and he would have a talk with him, he also said to send in the song again and he would have someone else listen and critique it.

I also dropped by unannounced to the Taxi offices last summer, and talked with Michael Laskow for 40 minutes- he gave me a tour of their new digs, introduced me to Doug M. and other people of the staff. He didn't have to- he was personable and encouraging, and inquired about my feelings about how Taxi was working for me.

I probably won't join next year. Not because of what Taxi didn't do for me- but because I realize now lots of things about 'the industry' of music and how it works- that's the education that Taxi gave me, and that knowledge was worth the money I spent.
