Beautiful Angel
by Todd Mack, Cass-n-Marls Music (SESAC)

Beautiful angel all around smiling down on me
In a million years I’d never have guessed this is how it would be
I wish there was something I could’ve done just to keep you safe and sound
This ain’t how it’s supposed to be, what I’d give to turn it around

Not a day goes by I don’t think of you and wish that you were here
Not a day goes by I don’t crack a smile, not a day I don’t shed a tear
I carry you with me deep in my heart everywhere I go
I’ll never forget you; don’t you forget it; I know that you already know

Baseball games, drinkin’ beer, Sundays in the park
Crackerjack philosophies on what is and isn’t art
Baking bread in that bread machine your mother sent to you
Your crazy shirts, that crazy bike, all those crazy things we’d do

Hangin’ out in the bar at night while the band played on and on
Singin’ and playin’ all night long, laughing at the dawn
These are the things I miss the most that I hold onto so tight
The simple things we took for granted when the end was nowhere in sight

No matter what they did to you, there are some things they can’t take away
Your pride and honor and dignity will live on long past today
And your great big heart and selflessness, your love still showers me
You always were a shining example of what a true friend should be

Now all the world knows your name, I admit that still feels strange
But I know good things can come from this and bring about a change
A symbol of truth, compassion, and fairness, your memory’s alive and well
You are a rock of strength, a ray of light, you are a beautiful angel
