there's an old, padlocked pirate's chest sunken somewhere deep in the dark; an "x" still marks the spot there on the map of my poor heart. the terrain as i can barely recall with what little's left of my mind is, oh, so badly broken up, but who knows what you'll now find!
if you open it up, i hope you find love. if you open it up, i hope you find peace. if you open it up, i hope you find... what's left of me.
that flag bearin' the skull an' crossbones all us renegades once flew was hung t' ward off all kinda theives - an' the faintest of hearts, too. but if you should somehow stumble upon that old ghost-ridden place, you can drag that long-lost trunk out into the light of a brand new day.
go on, open it up, i hope you find love. go on, open it up, i hope you find peace. go on, open it up, i hope y' know what t' do with... what's left of me.
now in all my many travels, on the seas both high an' low, i've seen a few o' the good ones come, but i've watched 'em, one by one, go. and if i could ever find my way back t' that little uncharted isle t' find you tearfully waiting... lonely, tremblin', an' wide-eyed...
oh, i'd open it up, you could help me find love. yeah, i'd open it up, you could help me find peace. i'd open it up, an' you could finally have... what's left of me...
if you still thought you'd have... what's left of me.
