<v.1> Starin' at the High Wire In the media circus the Lion Tamer's gone
They found the people liked it better on the days the lion won
Despite the gruesome spectacle I'm rooted to my seat The lion tamer is our hero if posthumously.
<ch 1> Though we never really noticed him he was a man of men we'll come back to the circus now it might happen again.
<v.2> Starin' at the high wire In the media Circus The clowns are in control
Creating a distraction So the illusion remains whole.
Even as a little child Clowns gave me the creeps Their frantic, antic, leering smiles Haunt me in my sleep
<ch 2> We wonder what the truth is but do we really care what matters is what saves your butt When you're on the air
<bridge> In the air... am I floating am I falling? In the air...I let go the trapeze In the air...I see your hands and hear you calling In the air...I look down and I freeze
<v 3> Starin at the high wire In the media circus The drumroll has begun
The spotlight searches its next victim Now I am the one
Despite the quaking of my knees bravely I ascend The demon drummer beats the time to my untimely end.
<pre-ch 3> The lion tamer is my hero I'm going to meet him soon If I make it there will it let the air Out of everyone's balloon?
<ch 3> We wonder what the truth is but do we really care We'll settle for an answer with consequences we can bear
Repeat bridge, end.
