I know he'll be there waiting...with his arms wide open
I'm headed home, my baby...I'm headed home.
I knew at seventeen I was gonna wander. For adventure and to find myself some fame. But I hooked up with a man... who wanted just a someone. I had a child but when I left, all I had was my name.
CHORUS:
(Instrumental Break)
I'm Headed Home, my baby...I'm headed home.
And there were times that I thought it was the end of the line. I did some wrongs and don't you know...I did some time. But through the missed years... and all of the lost tears, My child is waiting... Yes he's waiting for mama, his mama to return.
CHORUS:
I'm Headed Home, my baby...I'm headed home.
