I am curious, how many versions of your songs do you make before you find the one you keep? I usually go through 30-50 versions to get as close to what I want as I can. Now and then it still falls short, but for me, I find A.I. eventually locks into amazingly close to what I heard in my head when I start working on a song. I have the largest membership, but still ran out of tracks last month. I missed 2 weeks of this month (my month starts on the 26th) so I likely won't run out this month.
I rarely get a keeper in the first 10 tries. Brian, I am the same way. I used up all of my monthly credits in Pro writing 15 songs. I have a sound in my head for each song and I tinker with it until I get one I like. I change the key, tempo, time signature, vibe/feel, and instrumentation. I also tinker with the lyrics adding or reducing vocalizations or rewriting because I don't like the way it plays out in recordings. I have spent hours working on just one song. And that is after I've spent a considerable amount of time writing it. I find myself getting up and walking away from one multiple times before I settle on something. I don't know how that parlays in other people's perceptions of what I'm putting out. But I'm making the music I always envisioned. That makes it all worthwhile for me personally.

Thank you, Wes!!
I certainly appreciate your listen, kind words and suggs! I wish my brain worked like this with every song, but I lucked out on this one. I will keep trying though. You're only a failure when you quit, right?
Peace,
Dave

No One's Better Than You[V1] There's no one better than you No matter how hard they try I don't care what they do they fall short every time Words can never express though each one would be true you are simply the best No one's better than you [CH] It's - not - so - hard to believe or understand you're the one meant for me I feel it holding your hand [Interlude] [V2] There's no one else on this earth I would rather be with no matter where we call home there with you I will live when I draw my last breath and my time here is through I'll have been with the best No one's better than you [CH] It's - not - so - hard to believe or understand you're the one meant for me I feel it holding your hand There's no one better than you when I draw my last breath and my time here is through I'll have been with the best I know that it's true No one's better than you

Hey Brian, Since I had no expectations, I would say it's working as expected. hehehe According to the count there have been over 3k views of this post. There has been a spattering of comments from our locals here (all of which I am SINCERELY grateful for) and I will happily continue to contribute new material when my spirit moves me to do so. I've yet to be contacted by anyone interested in producing or using any of my songs here, but that's okay. It's just nice to have this outlet for my creativity. What are your thoughts? Peace, Dave A.I. music is awesome for creators, but it might be the end of commercial value for music itself. If you are TRULY in it for the art and expression, then you should be okay with that idea. The tools that will soon be in every hand will make buying music pointless. Anyone interested in music will simply do it for themselves OR they will train A.I. to understand the styles of music they love and A.I. will endlessly meet their desires. This will also go for films and other cultural content. I am not saying great art made exclusively by humans won't ALSO be appreciated, but with literally billions of new songs being made per year with any and every person who wants to make them adding to the pile, the idea of being a famous musician will shift to being a loved "content creator" and people will subscribe to YOU, not to your music. If someone loves what YOU do, no matter how you get there, you can still earn money and have a career. May more people will have a sustainable career making content than every before in history. Instead of 100 "chart" stars at any given time, as in days past, it will be 100s of thousands (or more) content creators, often working independently, who will find that success. In the end, it means MORE little people will have success than at any time in history. There will still be artists pushed with brute force, by corporations, but (especially for young people) you need only put out your shingle, sign on to every social media platform and start cranking out interesting things for people to listen to, watch, read or otherwise be entertained by. If you have none of the skills needed, learn by doing until you find your audience. If you DO it, you WILL find a following. This has been my message for 40 years and it has never been untrue. Most people don't really want to relentlessly work to build something. They want easy street. This is how corporation have ALWAYS suckered artists into terrible one sided deals. A little short term cash can get a lot of talented people to sign on and sign away control so they get support and guidance and a little money. But it always comes back to haunt people. Anyone can get a YouTube channel, and/or all the other site accounts and just start at it. Even older people can do it. But most people don't truly want to work that hard. Few people not born (or marrying) into wealth and success ever find it without a LOT of hard work for a sustained time period. And in truth, it is less about talent and more about effort that keeps most from success. It was a hurdle I finally had to get over, but as soon as I did, so many doors opened WIDELY. Brian, regarding what you say above... how do you think the Zach Bryan deal flavors this? It was reported in May that he sold his catalogue for $350 million. I can't fathom a guy that young (and not a huge amount of recorded music for this number) being worth this much money. So, it makes me wonder why would a huge corporation pay that kind of money if the music industry is under a huge threat? Beats me, but that is a staggering sum of money for the rights to that guy's music. But maybe they are going to insist that he tour like a madman? And tours are paying hugely these days? And maybe they will bank all tour proceeds? I don't know how it's structured. But I can't figure out why that sum of money happened. If it would have been $35 million, or even $3.5 million, it still could be considered quite something. $350 million, sheesh. I mean, he's successful, yes, but I don't think he is a genuine superstar. Yet. Interested to hear your thoughts on the deal and also how it reflects on the A.I. arena.

I spent 13 hours straight on a song last week. I have used all my credits all but one month and that was out of my control. I haven't even started downloading stems yet. I have 326 finished songs, though I am still fiddling with many and my oldest ones all need to be upgrade to 4.5+ which really should have been named 5.0 because it is a HUGE upgrade from 4.5

Yet. Interested to hear your thoughts on the deal and also how it reflects on the A.I. arena. I actually think there is something completely different going on than most people think. Publishing is one of the few A.I. proof ventures. All these catalogs WILL be licensed to anyone for use with A.I. soon enough. That is the end game. So if I own Bob Dylan's catalog, I am license it for use with A.I. for remixing, cutting up and making something new, using in A.I. content, A.I. films etc. It's a reliable hedge. It can also allow for licensing to grab the voice on the recordings etc. Plus, A.I. can legally train on that if they choose to make it available, thus protecting from litigation. It is also a stake in any lawsuit against big tech. The income streams in many cases are invisible to governments for taxation etc. One day you will be allow to do anything you want to nearly all existing content via licensing. Then your tools will be God like in 20 years in music.

Vampire[Verse 1] Each time the sun goes down That's when she'll come around stalking her prey with eyes of fire Then when he brings her home And they're both all alone She'll build his passion even higher But when he thinks he's gonna go the distance Just when he thinks that he has won That's when she'll strike the blow What hit him? He won't know Now that the carnage has begun! [Chorus] Her love's a vampire Feeding on pure desire No one is safe from her devotion Pleasure will turn to pain When she begins to drain A beating heart of sweet emotion Watch your back 'cause - here she comes - VAMPIRE! [Verse 2] It won't take long to learn as all the tables turn He's just a snack to be devoured And she won't let him go To feed is all she knows He's trapped until the final hour There's no escaping for the chosen victim There's not a prayer to save his soul! She'll bleed him 'til he's dry He's left to wonder why He ever thought he had control {Guitar Solo] [Chorus] Her love's a vampire Feeding on pure desire No one is safe from her devotion Pleasure will turn to pain When she begins to drain A beating heart of sweet emotion Watch your back 'cause - here she comes - VAMPIRE!

Dave I listened to Vampire and enjoyed it. It's not really on-my-wavelength, but I thought that you painted the scenario well with your lyrics. If you have time and the inclination, I'd like to hear your lyrics slowed down to another genre. In any event...nice job. Marty

I am so glad I suggested this and you followed through Dave! Thank you. Love the Vampire song. If you want to cowrite, let me know. Give me a partial lyric idea and we can cowrite lyrics, or just give me a lyric BEFORE you enter it into Suno and I will pair it with original music and we'll co-own 100% of it!

I will PM you to keep this thread from going too far away from its intended purpose. Very excited to begin this adventure!! Peace, Dave

Got That ItchOhh Ohh, yeah yeah! Ohh Ohh, yeah yeah! [V1] Breaking down the barrier that's keeping us from progress Better not get in our way We're burnin' like a hot mess Blood is boiling, brain is focused beating heart in our chest Never quitting, always forward marching through the darkness We got somewhere to go We got somewhere to go step up or step aside buckle up enjoy the ride! [CH] It's time to hit the road Don't matter where it goes everybody's got that itch so c'mon and flip the switch Let's break away It's time to seize the day everybody's got that itch so c'mon and flip the switch and play! Ohh Ohh, yeah yeah! Ohh Ohh, yeah yeah! [V2] We just keep on rolling on we're pushing like a snowplow way too right to be this wrong so we'll keep going somehow feeling like a phoenix rising they can kiss our ash now Never quitting. Always forward watch as they all kowtow We got somewhere to go We got somewhere to go step up or step aside buckle up enjoy the ride! As the world is slowly spinning we all need a new beginning suck it up and keep on grinning We got somewhere to go We got somewhere to go step up or step aside buckle up enjoy the ride!

Overall, song is not on my wavelength, but I liked these lines a lot. Keep in mind, a listener has to know what the Phoenix is about.

Marty Thanks for the listen and feedback, Marty!! The song itself was written as a generic "Screw this, I'm out" anthem, but I can understand where you're coming from about the phoenix. I'll give it some further thought. Peace, Dave

New country drop! (basic, vanilla, been there, done that) Cover of my acapella recording This Song[Verse 1] It's getting late And past the time for me to head back home I love you too I wish I could stay with you but I must go But don't start to cry I'll be back before you know that I've been gone So until we meet again If you need me I'll be here inside this song [Chorus] When you start to feel alone You don't have to cry Just start to sing this song And I'll be by your side [Verse 2] Trust in me It'll work if you just give your heart a try Soon we'll meet again To let our loving feelings touch the sky So tomorrow when the sun shines through You know I'll be missing you too, but please don't cry Now I really must be going Think of me, I love you, goodbye [Chorus] When you start to feel alone You don't have to cry Just start to sing this song And I'll be by your side You know I love you more As each moment passes by So when you start to feel alone Just sing this song and I'll be by your side Peace, Dave

Jeez Dave,
The song is old school, but it sounds like a hit to me. You put the listener in the song and you made it about the listener...and the listener and singer are interchangeable with any two people that might want to assign it to their relationship. Plus it's pretty. The nuance and character in the SUNO vocal is beautiful to listen to and intimidating at the same time.
The impact of all that reminds me of "Your Song" by Elton John.
Marty's vote for a real good song.

Feel The Flow[V1] Whispers In the dark a Fantasy of love Starts a spark I'm running my hands on your skin and I can't let you go I want you to know What you're doing to me Can you feel the flow? Does it set your heart free To know it'll always be me? [BR] when it comes to loving you There can be no other man Who could give you, girl any more than I can! [CH] Can you feel the flow?! When I'm laying you down? It just goes to show That no other man around Could ever love you more Let me show you what's in store All these feelings start to grow Tell me girl I need to know Can you feel the flow? [V2] You, babe Light the sky You make me feel so good I wanna cry you're running your hands on my skin and I feel so alive I think I would die without feelin' your love it comes as no surprise you are all I dream of too much is never enough [BR] when it comes to loving you There can be no other man Who could give you, girl any more than I can! [CH] Can you feel the flow?! When I'm laying you down? It just goes to show That no other man around Could ever love you more Let me show you what's in store All these feelings start to grow Tell me girl I need to know Can you feel the flow?

I still can't edit the header post. Say Something Nice[V1] We spent a little time apart I don't know just how it started you said something I got mad and said some things I shouldn't have we both needed time and space to find the way back to our place now here we are So what comes next? How do we fix what we almost wrecked? [CH] Say something nice Say something sweet Say anything you think I need so I can finally feel complete Say something real Say something true Whisper it softly in my ear so that my heart can hear it too Say something nice [V2] I don't know what set you off it's like our souls had gotten lost and I just needed to talk to you to let you know what I'm goin' through I guess I wasn't thinking straight assuming everything is great now here we are What can be done? It's getting late and we're losing sun [CH] Say something nice Say something sweet Say anything I need to hear so I can finally feel complete Say something real Say something true Whisper it softly in my ear so that my heart can hear it too Say something nice [BR] Time won't heal it only numbs scars will always show we can't see what love becomes if we don't let it grow [CH] Say something nice Say something sweet Say anything I need to hear so I can finally feel complete Say something real Say something true Whisper it softly in my ear so that my heart can hear it too Say something nice Peace, Dave

Just took a break from arguing and listening to both of your songs.
I get accused of "faint praise." (A term eloquently coined by John V.)
In your case, faint praise isnt necessary. I genuinely always like your stuff. And the music that SUNO put with it is compelling.
Really liked em Dave. Good songs.

Knife fights is an interesting lyric. I have come to expect thoughtfulness in your lyrics and so look for it. Hmmmm…a knife night in boom town…haha
Just reading, I wanted to learn more about the kids…will they ever learn type thing…then listened to the music.
The music. Kinda two chord headbanger relentless…fits dem crazy kids…lol.
Cheers Dave. Bill

Cheers Dave. Bill Thanks, Bill. Full transparency here - this song was written from a very sad place in my soul regarding youth, ignorance and real-world consequences. All these savage, senseless shootings at various gatherings, buildings, etc. ("gun range") All of it basically stemming from people saying awful things to each other (verbal "knife fight") and one's decision to do something about it that changed nothing yet changed everything all at once. I used the '70's punk' prompt for the music in an attempt to grasp the chaos and sheer idiocy of this reality. I truly appreciate your listen and kind words here, sir. Take care out there. Musical Drifter[V1] Winter is fast approaching Bringing in snow from the north Think I'll pick up and dust off this old guitar Hear the memories it can spring forth [CH] Musical drifter Sharing a song and a smile Strumming out presents For everyone's ear Just to leave again after a while Musical drifter [V2] Footsteps fade on the frozen ground But echoes still dance in the air A melody hummed in a small café Lingers like perfume there [CH] Musical drifter Notes like footprints in sand Never quite rooted But always at ease With a tune and a heart in hand Musical drifter [BR] He’s a whisper in the canyon A shadow on the stage A story partly written On a dusty, weathered page He won’t stay long But he’ll leave you changed [V3] Spring comes to thaw the silence And someone will hum his refrain A child with a dream and a secondhand song Will carry his spirit again [CH] Musical drifter His memory is never gone In the hush of the night Or the break of the day His melody will carry on Musical drifter Peace, Dave

I like the idea of this one as well Dave.
The notion of a melody having mystery and natural power. Some musicians think they are the vehicle only. So I was thinking of a minor edit being replace the pronoun "him" with "it"
ie He’s It's a whisper in the canyon
And so on. I'll attempt a version of it....just for practise....if you don't mind. (won't be as good as suno of course) Bill

Dave, At the risk of tainting your thread with the presence of my comment, I'll risk leaving it anyways. I read the lyrics first and felt like you did not bring the "musical drifter" into sharp enough focus for the listener to know what he/she/it is....and identify with he/she/it. But then I played it and found the recording overall to be very light and enjoyable. The melody conveys the lyrics well. I always enjoy listening to what you write and produce. Your stuff is always good. Imho, you and Ben are keeping good music alive on this site. Marty
