When I first wrote this lyric I was informed that a couple of top writers in Nashville were pitching a song with the same title, so I dropped it. Floyd was nice enough to put this to music a few months ago. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12471133&q=hi&newref=1SMALL VICTORIES Johnnie bit his lip and tried to write his letters This alphabet ain't easy as it looks But nothing in his life ever made him feel better Than understanding words in his new book Well he finally read a story out loud And smiled knowing it would make his grandson proud (chorus) Small victories, they make the biggest difference Small victories, doing what you can Put the past behind you... it's history You hold the future in your hands The path to heaven, you'll see Is tiny steps like these Small victories Jennie sat down with her mama and the preacher A baby at fifteen would be so hard They cried and begged and did their best to reach her In the spirit of love, in the name of God Now she's gonna have that baby and she's gonna give it up To a couple who can't thank her near enough Small victories, they make the biggest difference Small victories, doing what you can Put the past behind you... it's history You hold the future in your hands The path to heaven, you'll see Is paved with deeds like these Small victories (bridge) When you know.. Deep in your soul.. That something's wrong Search your heart.. find the power.. To be strong (repeat chorus) Bill Osofsky, BMI, Floyd Jane, ASCAP copyright

Yes indeed. How many small victories are overlooked on the quest for the big one?
This is an outstanding write and the floyd jane vocal and production ice the cake. The ideal instrumentation, vocal and mix is there to support the lyric.
Well done guys.

Wow guys. This is outstanding. The story lines to the production and everything in between. Great writing, Bill and Floyd did a top notch job on the music and bringing it to fruition. Has great emotional appeal.

Guys, You've got a story and a message and a solid song structure. It's all put together just the way a song is supposed to be. I don't see anything you need to add to it. It's certainly well-written. It's the kind of song that could make a difference in someone's life. Congratulations on a job well-done.

Nice song. No Nits on content, just a nit on philosophy.
* I would argue that they weren't small victories but major ones.
To some people graduating high school is a major victory.
Might actually be considered an insult to call them small victories, to people who may never achieve anything greater.
Just an "angels" advocate.
