If it's morally wrong to use and idea today then it's morally wrong to use the idea from the past. So the guy who came up with the wheel should still be getting paid or his decedents.
Putting a time limit on morality is stupid. So if it's not immoral to not pay the wheel guy then it's not immoral to not pay the record guy.
