ha ha ha , I just said things would not change , it hasn't. This site basically has 5 members I suspect that there are many "members" that look in here. But they see the off-topic arguing and trolling that goes on day to day. They see that the handful of active people who remain are old and are not actually in the music. They don't approach. Can that really be changed? I'm not sure if it can be, but I am reasonably certain that allowing the things that brought this site to it's current condition, will end it. However, I may be the only one here who thinks that off-topic and inflammatory topics should be banned. Any name calling whatsoever should be banned. Polite and cordial discourse should be strictly enforced. As you can see, I'm not afraid to engage it, but the reason that I came here was to put up songs, not argue about Trump. There are millions of sites dedicated to doing that. To me this place is a bit like Chicago...Trump offers to come into crime ridden dysfunctional cities and tamp criminals down, and the local guys call Trump Hitler. They argue vehemently to defend and prolong their own malaise.

Actually Ben, if that was your 30 bucks, thank you. Your name was not attached, it was a company name.
As for the board, we are close enough on donations, thank to Dave, Ben and a half dozen people on Facebook who chipped in that don't even post here. Interesting that they value the board more than people who spend hours everyday here, but alas, that is reality.
I now have to wait for the company to find the time to actually do it, if the board is down in the next 2 weeks, that is why.

That's non sense that people are not participating because they read off topic threads.

You refuse to acknowledge the most basic thing there is, NOT enough songs being posted not enough rotation, and the biggest of all bullshite, pointless reviews.
Geez I wasted all that time in this song, and all any can say is..good job, pleasant melody, pretty song.
Obvious, let me throw that at you so you come to mine, yes I know I said nothing, had no real interest in where your cooking from with your song, but I want you to come to mine.
The flame wars have always always existed here, Christianity threads, political threads,opinions on in everything have been posted here.
The forum still thrived. there wasn't 15 minutes going by without something new being posted.
If a dozen writers didn't post, another dozen did, it was an endless supply of members.

tell them what you think that they need to do to become better songwriters,
castigate them and ride them with name calling when they say that they don't accept the opinion of a random un-credentialed troll...
that is and you are the single biggest participation killer here.
Sites that I visit which have healthy participation shut that down.
Healthy participation cannot go on if trolls are harassing people who display their efforts.

The issue is there's no writers left. Writers are using new tools, new sites, new social media. People still want info, and some of our oldest posts still catch internet searches. There's not much music content out there without a paywall. We also get tons of international traffic from Europe, Japan, Australia, Brazil, India and Canada/Mexico. People are searching for songwriting tips, and also reading examples of lyrics. It's amazing how much traffic lyrics get! I don't think they are likely to follow a link to another site, so many places have dangerous links and people are smart not to trust random links that could be malicious. But if people post their lyrics or any real conversation is taking place that isn't the droning on between you 3, it gets views. It's also interesting to see how many registered users still visit the site, but don't log in. They are still checking in by the thousands every month. We haven't had a working sign up for 3 years. The Captcha thing is broke. I am hoping the update will fix that as well. Every time Windows does an update, it seems to affect how the entire web works. And one more feature stops working here.

I do not believe myself to be a qualified "instructor." So I don't start breaking people's work down and re-building it for them. It's theirs, not mine. But I desire to encourage them in some way...so when I hear something that I genuinely like, I MAY make a suggestion....light and short...but at the least, I'll say that "I enjoyed listening."
What other people say is up to them.
Most people leave a comment and move on.But not you. You harangue them. And, is the price of that annoyance worth paying because of your years of experience writing hits for radio artists? No. It's just a troll on a website being allowed to harass participants.

The two things that I have said to you that seem to set you off the most; #1 I've said that you have TDS and the affliction gives you a psychological addiction to anything TRUMP-HATE. I like you...but believe that. Sorry. I said that in response to your TRUMP-BASH posts. #2 I said that if you keep bashing Trump, that he is going to send his secret police out, to pick you up and throw you into a blacked-out van. And then, They are going to chop your leg of at the knee. And then, they are going to feed it to Trump for dinner. after which, he is going to pick his teeth with the smaller bones. THAT made you apoplectic, which baffled the hell out of me, but offered substantial proof of #1. Try to relax. Marty, do you remember what I wrote that triggered that response of yours? What you consider to be factual reality and completely justified is Trump bashing. early on in the tariff issue, you looked at the movement of the tariffs in the first few days. You extended that ("I did the math") and claimed that tariffs were going to hit 500% at their current rate of ascendance. I said that was hyperbolic and ridiculously unlikely and the back-and-forth went on from there. I said that line of thinking was just hand-me-down talking points from propaganda machines. I stand by that and was correct. I was not being rude, but I was being frank. You are the one that shows up with the unsolicited political Trump-bash posts. It seems to me that you are going to view any rebuttal as rude. I am a conservative in a blue city in a red state. I am surrounded by Trump haters, open border advocates, no bail advocates and on and on. As a result, my skin is a lot thicker than theirs. You all bash TRUMP? and consider anything that you say as righteous and true. I defend him? I'm a barbarian. That is why I suggest you take your political concerns to one of the millions of sites that invite arguments...rather than a songwriter site.

I agree with some of the things Trump is doing, but there are a bunch of things that he could do better/differently. I’m not a Trump fan because he sexually assaulted women and for some reason, he has a problem with the truth. I’d still like to know what’s in the Epstein files. If Trump is a pedophile that would really change what I think of him. Please stay on this site because you are a great songwriter, we’ve worked together in the past and I enjoyed it.
