The lines that stands out for me are "My country turns its cheek once/Then says “Don’t tread on me” cuz I had to really think to unravel the idea expressed is that it ("My country") wants to be open to the idea of accepting everyone into it, but has grown very sensitive to the possibility of being tread upon.
Anyway, that's how I understood it. Everything else is rather straightforward. A little on the plain side, musically, for me. Maybe just needs a little added spice or something. Good stuff, though.

I think Mike grades you tougher for some reason, maybe cause he expects big things from you.
First of all the sound is freaking great, im listening on my phone and it sounds good.
Your Chorus stinks...hahha, i got a melody for you, when i get a chance ill sing it into my phone.
It is kind of basic, but a song like this is going to be basic musically, patriotic anthems are generally a lyrical thing

Well, of course "My Country" wants to be "universally free" lol... It's a Christian thing I find that there's usually a disconnect between the way something "feels" when I play, and the way it actually "sounds". I do these "plug-n-play" recordings just to get out of my own head... Thanks Mike

I like what you’ve done, so far, but I also think you’ve got a better chorus lyric inside you than what I’m reading. You might want to go to the first person singular and tell us why you love your country and only use my country in the last line as you have now. I’d like to see a more dynamic chorus as well and IMO it needs bridge....it’s a really good rallying song but IMO doesn’t have that feel just yet...has great potential

Unless I missed, the last (247 )-years Tony" America certainly set the precedence for freedom 247yrs ago... but, I don't think we really go "out of our way" to influence the rest of the world. Tried that in Vietnam, lesson learned. No, America is only an "example" because we are so "blessed"
