TWO THOUSAND YEARS
Burning buildings, screaming women, Men in masks parade their might. Frightened children beg for mercy But there’s none to spare tonight.
Gutters turning moonlit red, Someones son is lying dead. Crowds alight with flashing blue, The sun wont rise again for you.
Lying dead in bloody glory Just another tabloid story What’s the point of sacrifice, When nobody even cares.
One more life gone too early, One more lesson never learned. One more headline in the papers, One more prayer your god has spurned.
And when your soul was laid to rest, Did they fire seven rifles in the air, Or did they fire into seven more sons, And lower them down to your madmans lair.
Years of bullets and years of bombs, And how many years of sadness. So many lies and so much hate, And so many years of madness.
What’s been changed and who has gained, Is anything any clearer. Does anyone know who’s winning yet, Is peace getting any nearer.
So this is what your religion is for A cause where you kill for your lord His death was just like all of yours Wasted, in vain and ignored.
It’s only war, it’s happened before, It'll probably happen again. Two thousand years to get it right, And all of them in vain.

"The standard by which I now measure the things in my life is the following: If I was on my death bed, or if I knew I had a short time to live, would this issue be important? If the answer is no.. I don't sweat it at all. If the answer is Yes, you better believe it goes to the front of the order of today's business!" -Brian Austin Whitney
