Herbie, don't shoot the messenger, I didn't make the rules or write the bible, and I never mentioned you burning in hell, I believe there are degrees of punishment to suit the sin as there are degrees of rewards for good things done in your life. Sin can not enter into heaven, where it goes is God's choice. If man does not accept His offer of forgiveness for his sins, then he/she has to accept the punishment for those sins, what ever that may be. God wants no one to go to hell, but if they choose to, then their choice will be granted.
I was of your thinking for years, I was not bad like some people so I figured I had a good chance to go the heaven. But when I started to read the bible, I realized God doesn't do + and - calculating, it's either/or, you are for me or against me, no neutral ground, no sitting on the fence. So I choose to follow God and accept His plan of salvation, I don't force others to do so but I feel I am expected to tell others so they know the choice is there.
