Somewhere along the way, the discussion on morality of our children was lost. There is no way the question of religion is going to be solved on this thread. But it sure would be nice to work on the morality problem. And it's not only the children who are losing theirs. They, like their parents, learn by example. I was watching a news show last night talking about preteen girls whose naked pictures showed up on the internet. When the parents were informed, most acted like they really didn't care. That's the type of example I'm talking about. Since when is that OK? Probably since about the time that "Girls Gone Wild" videos and spring breaks that are nothing more than drunken/drugged orgies put on national TV were OK. Come on people, lets get this back on track. Not just the discussion, but the morality itself.
Hi John
We live in a world where it seems everything and everybody has a price. TV and films are 'good' because they make money. Politicians go for looks and soundbites. The concept of a private life seems to have followed liberty through the out door.
Possibly this is because the society which grew up after WW2 was one based around re-building a better world, and the west had an implacable enemy in the east. That sense of togetherness no longer exists, and we are bombarded daily with messages of undefined danger from attack, interrupted by commercials offering stuff we just have to buy. This affects adults as much as children. The things that bind people together are easily lost - the things that make them selfish are many and tempting!
