Four years old in a crowded market
Eating grapes like they're free
Screams like hell when Mom says no
Embarrassed, she gathers him and leaves
She recalls her Father spanking her
While scornfully guarding her pride
And strangers just walked on by
Oh, She swore she’d never hurt him
Swore she’d never hurt him...
He was laying face down in the street
Struggling against a female cop
Fifteen years old with gang tattoos
He kicks, rolls, and gets on top
Grabs her gun and kills her
Then, struck by a familiar face
His Mother just walked on by
Oh, She swore she’d never hurt him
Swore she’d never hurt him...
Spiteful, angry, and blaming God
No fear of the Devil's due
Just another face in the crowd
He dies in prison at twenty two
The law did what his Mom wouldn't do
No one attended his funeral
The world just walked on by
Oh, She swore she’d never hurt him
Swore she’d never hurt him...
A Mother must never neglect
To teach her child to reflect
Upon the virtue of self respect
Oh, She swore she’d never hurt him
Swore she’d never hurt him...

"The great thing about a dream come true, is that it is born with a great appetite. That appetite keeps it growing and evolving and it swallows up all those other dreams you have and spits them back out as reality as well." -Brian Austin Whitney
