Just saying that we DON'T know for sure, and offering up the possibility that sentient AI might surprise us. based on the innovation in architectural software in just the last five years. As well as audio software. You have been my main up close and personal look at that. Plus my own dabblings.  I think that HAL is a given. Whether HAL morphs from machine to "being," ...dunno.
