I've been recording some midi stuff with virtual basses like the Steinberg VB or the EMU . For most, I end up putting a real bass on an audio track, but for some, the virtual stuff is the deal. Any thoughts? ------------------ You have to practice improvisation. -Art Tatum Mike Dunbar Music

Hey Mike: Noticed your post was a few weeks old so I don't know if you'll see this. No comments really - just a question. I've been creating my bass lines with a keyboard. But that's only because I don't have a bass and don't know how to play one if I did. My keyboard also generates guitar, harmonica, and banjo "sounds" but I don't use them because I have those instruments and, if I can't play them well, I can play them at least as good as I could play the keyboard ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) So my question is, if you have a bass and can play it, why would you use a virtual bass? There must be (at least sometimes) some advantages to it. What are they?
