Here's a little known one that tops my list: John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness. My wife won't even walk into the room if it happens to be on TV. This is one of only three movies that kept me up at night. The others were The Exorcist and Wag the Dog, which, in it's own way, may be the real scariest of all.
