Thanks everyone

I know this is supposed to be about music success stories here but I was feeling pretty proud of myself, Heheh.
I got to say I have been a bit of a basket case for the last month. A lot going on, lots of stress, but I am hanging in there.

I don't expect the Non smokers to relate either. That's OK tho.
Just think of the most favorite thing you like to do every day, or you most favorite food, or anything else like that and try to see yourself giving it up....FOREVER.

I do need to put in a plug for the drug I took for 7 weeks.
It is called Chantix.
after week two I realized I was only smoking half as many cigarettes a day. I don't think I did that on a conscious level either.
The drug works by actually blocking Nicotine from attaching itself to the pleasure centers of your brain.

I then continued to take the drug for a few more weeks before deciding on a quit date, after my quit date I also quit taking the drug.

What I am dealing with now is the desire to repeat a process I did 40 to 50 times a day for 49 years. I have suddenly taken that activity away and, believe me, there is nothing in the world that will duplicate that action.
My hand still reaches for my shirt pocket where the cigs use to be. it is an involuntary movement on the part of my hand. I trained it well, LOL.
I wasn't kidding about the nightmare last night. I really did have a nightmare about cigarettes.
What a terrible addiction.
It is unfortunate that money and greed is what keeps cigarettes available to our young people. If you know kids that are starting to smoke...I urge you...Please try to get them to stop.
I have one grand daughter that smokes, one does not.
The one who does not was raised by me since she was a baby. I warned her every day about the dangers of starting smoking and how tough it was to quit. I also told her I would beat the daylights out of her if I ever caught her smoking.
More likely it was the fact that she watched me struggle with trying to quit for so many years that kept her from smoking.
I saw her the other day and she told me how proud of me she was. That made my day.

I want to add

I figure in todays dollars I have wasted about $166,000 on cigarettes. I have no idea how much it would have earned had I invested it.
Imagine what I could have bought with that money.
