“It’s All An Illusion” is a playful, tongue-in-cheek country song about the strange gap between reality and the version of reality we're sometimes told to believe. Prices are going up? Maybe they're coming down. Poll numbers are slipping? Maybe they're looking great. And when the facts don't fit the story... well, perhaps the story just needs changing. I never quite decided whether the guy in the song is deliberately creating the illusion or whether he actually believes it himself. Either way, there's plenty of smoke, mirrors, and a very catchy “Whoa-oh-oh... It’s all an illusion!”. I recorded the chorus on my phone and Suno V6 did the rest. Have a listen and let me know what you think. IT'S ALL AN ILLUSIONhttps://soundclick.com/song/15350057[Instrumental Intro] [Verse] He says the prices are coming down While we're paying more in town He says the polls are looking great While the numbers seal his fate [Verse] He says the sky is shining bright While we're standing in the night If reality won't fit his view He just paints a picture new [Pre-chorus] Maybe he's selling us a dream Maybe he believes it too Maybe somewhere in between He doesn't know what's true [Chorus] Whoa-oh-oh It's all an illusion What we see ain't what we get Whoa-oh-oh It's all an illusion He ain't done fooling us yet It's all an illusion [Break] [Verse] He says the numbers tell the story Every day's another glory And if the facts don't fit his view He just changes what is true [Pre-chorus] Maybe he's selling us a dream Maybe he believes it too Maybe somewhere in between He doesn't know what's true [Chorus] Whoa-oh-oh It's all an illusion What we see ain't what we get Whoa-oh-oh It's all an illusion He ain't done fooling us yet It's all an illusion [Bridge] Maybe he's the magician Maybe he's the crowd Maybe he's the one who can't Tell fantasy from now When you tell the same story Every single day After long enough Does it start to feel that way? [Interlude] [Final chorus] Whoa-oh-oh It's all an illusion What we see ain't what we get Whoa-oh-oh It's all an illusion He ain't done fooling us yet It's all an illusion [Outro] It's all an illusion Maybe he's fooling me... Whoa-oh-oh It's all an illusion Maybe he's fooling you... Whoa-oh-oh It's all an illusion

Yes. I keep thinking the whole thing is theatrics, and I fear the big reveal....lol. Bill Hey Bill, I keep asking myself, what exactly is there to reveal? He says prices are going down, but we all know that’s not how inflation works. Prices can rise more slowly, but they don’t magically go back down just because inflation comes down. And yet, he keeps saying they are. And then there's the drug-price thing. He's repeatedly talked about cutting drug prices by 400%, 500%, 600%, even 1,000%. That's not how percentages work. A 100% reduction would mean the price is zero. You can't reduce a price by 1,000% unless you start paying the customer to take the drug. And that's actually why I keep wondering whether the guy in the song is deliberately creating the illusion or whether he really believes it himself. Maybe he really does. A lot of the things in the song seem to fit that same pattern. Bill, I’d really love to hear your thoughts on the song itself. All the best, Robert
