Now, we wait and see.
As for China, they've always made it clear that they want Taiwan back.
They have used cheap labor and western markets to build a formidable armed service.
Europe and the US have eagerly made that easy to do.
If they invade Taiwan and the West goes full-on to get them out, I think a bloodbath would result, with an uncertain outcome.
The US would have to ship a fighting force to the other side of the world. China would be a few miles offshore.

The history of civilization and mankind is the history of war, which makes all of the above, including your concerns with eastern Europe uncertain and scary.
I hope that they all love their children too.
