Over the years, this site and Brian have always been an inspiration (and was honored to have received "Song of the Year" many moons ago for co-writing "Christine's Refrigerator" with John Margolis.) I'm really proud to have written lyrics for three of the seven compositions on the recently released "Bobby McFerrin: VOCAbuLarieS" (Decca) CD. Over 50 singers (and over 1400 tracks). The force of nature behind it is Roger Treece, the composer/arranger/vocalist and Linda Goldstein, visionary producer, and of course, Bobby. It's a chorale music-based CD, so no narrative songs really. Only some have lyrics and even those a lot of Bobby's amazing invented vocalese. Not really a jazz CD--more classical/world/jazz. The thing is, as we all know, so few people buy CDs these days. And a project like this, which is SO rich in sound and scope--well, I'm hoping some of JP folks will consider getting that, OR at the least, be vigilant about buying CDs of good/rich downloads if necessary (not free) of their fave artist. As T-Bone Burnett says (to paraphrase)...some recording mediums are like a photo of a photo of a great painting. Check out bobbymcferrin.com. If you want to stream some of the compositions I co-wrote, go here: http://www.reverbnation.com/donroslerAnd anyone in NYC...there's some performances of "VOCAbuLaries" at Lincoln Center on November 12 and 13th. Thanks to JP folks and Brian...always there and supportive. Don Rosler

Hey Don, that's an awesome achievement! I have quite a few Bobby McFerrin albums, so I'll definitely check this out.

Thanks for the comments. JP has over 60,000 members. So many of you have either put countless hours and financing into wonderful labors of love, only to have it heard by others through a low-quality illegal download. Or had our work passed around with the CDs being copied, forgetting for the moment, that the chances of that artist doing another great work is hindered by lack of financial support for their most recent great work. (Yes, we've all done it from time to time, but it's something to think about every time we do). To me, a CD like "Bobby McFerrin: VOCAbuLarieS" is a rare bird... .SO much for the ear to take in. You could listen to it 100 times, and hear differenet things. Roger, Bobby and Linda made a CD for the ages. So why compromise your ears? I'm hoping we can all buy a CD this week. Full spectrum of sound. Really supporting the artists. If not VOCAb ... hoping/knowing that most JP members support another favorite artist in this way. Wish we could have some kind of national "Buy one CD" day or something. Support music the way it's supposed to be heard (and purchased). http://www.amazon.com/VOCAbuLarieS-...mp;s=music&qid=1267651045&sr=8-1Thanks, Don Rosler
