Folks Stan introduces to me this software Vocaloid. If you are out of cash and you need a vocal delivery of your songs this will be of great help. Actuallly they have several singer version. They are MIrriam Stockley, Lola, Leon and 2 japanese backup singer. The software is very difficult to manipulate. The phonetics of every world needs some great imagination in pronounciation. But when you get the hang of it, it will be so easy as ABC. To me I write the midi first. I chopped the melody in parts like verse 1 verse 2 chorus etc. I upload this to the vocaloid. I havent done it as VST or REwire yet. I type the lyrics manipulate the pronounciations then upload the synthetic voice in my project. Here are some of my sample in my parody project. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iQH54yWN-shttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwHwgQYVjhgIm trying to make the vocaloid as close as human. Lynman

Hi Lynman sounds very synthy and robotic like Cher's Autotune gone wrong. Might be OK for a weird disco pop song but I would not consider it for any serious singer requirements.
Whilst the human voice can be digitally altered to sound electronic it is almost impossible to make something electronic sound like a human voice. I wish you luck to make it happen.

Thanks for the comment. I agree for final production this kind of vocals is not the A-1 quality for the industry. But for just a demo so the singer can follow up the melody it will be a great help.
I just watched this Star Wars Animation series Clone WArs and I was so fascinated with the software they are using. They can change the voice in realtime and can change the ordinary voice in a robotic type like the voice of Count Griveous.
Im wondering can the machine in the future can emulate the voice of human?

I made it about three seconds in the first video -- a parody about pedophilia is not very fun at all -- pretty dang disturbing if you ask me.
The vocals in 2nd video I couldn't understand but I didn't read along. However, the quality was quite interesting and not too bad.

Hi Lynman in the future anything is possible. Even now they have the ability to use samples of the human voice to give info for phones, sat nav etc. I hate phoning up companies and having to press buttons to listen to a mechanical voice giving info that is totally irrelevant. I think I will stick to the good old fashioned conversation and listening to a person actually speaking or singing.

Kevin Thanks for bumping in. The parody song Ive written is really disturbing, I agree to you. That's why I use computer to do the delivery. LOL.

I also dont like the prerecorded message when I have some queries in companies about the services. Like press 1 if you are like this, press 2 if you are like that and press 0 if you want to repeat the message.
Human is still the best. Thats why we have tons of call center agents here who cater to all of your problems. Being the only english speaking country give us the edge.
Lastly in the not to distant future and I think we all can see them. That computer can respond like humans or better than humans.
So what left for us. Probably we are busy exploring the nearest star in our galaxy.

Miriam voice is very recognizable, I honestly like Miriam's natural voice, specially in her song "a perfect day" but the vocaloid thing has been so overused and her voice is so "recognizable" that for me it's annoying when I listen the samples in a work...
