Hi All,

I need some drum tracks for my recording efforts. I want recorded acoustic drums, not electronic sounding ones. A variety of soft rock tracks would work. I have seen some packages available for download that are reasonably priced.

Anyone recommend some that come as WAV files?

These guys truely kick ass http://www.betamonkeymusic.com/ they have downloads, will mail cd's, use acoustic drum sets, group the loops by genre, and will even do custom drum parts to your music. Hope this is helpful.

Gotta say, if you like acoustic drums, and like mixing them ( some hate it ) they come in an 8 track WAV format. i.e. adjust 8 mics.

I'm still toying with it, but they're a great natural sound.

I use fake percussion sounds tapping the keys on my Casio.

I would like real drum sounds.
Though I don't believe in using borrowed rythmns.

I started out doing new wave, although I always preferred the Talking Heads type new wave where there are real instruments and played. I would love real drum sounds, but I would like to make those rythmns too.

Anyways, you probably already know about Audacity. They have these click tracks.
But if you are interested in sounds from synths too, Casio has the most realistic drum sounds I have tried.

You want the genuine article though from what it sounds like.

There is a member here named substudio that drums that does those kind of samples.
Hope I'm not talking out of turn.

I've experimented a bit with drum loops, but for me, I prefer to either use a live drummer or to create my own loops with samples of real drums. I like matching or contrasting drum fills to the rhythm of the melody.

I've looked at betamonkey and listened to their samples, they sound good. Before putting together loops, listen and analyze what drummers have done on songs you like. Some fills work better with some grooves than with others.

I started using Groove Agent 3 a few weeks ago and I am so excited with the results! It sounds very good and it's truly flexible.

It's almost like working with a drummer, to whom you'd say "I want a sparse beat in the intro, then a fill at the end, then a regular beat with hi-hi on the verse, then the same beat but with cymbals as well on the chorus" and so on.

Because it uses MIDI, it's fully tempo adjustable and you can also modify the beats. I find this much easier to use than WAV loops.

I have a number of the Beta Monkey loop libraries. I haven't used them in probably two years. I find the easiest to use and the ones I get the most realistic drum tracks from are Stylus RMX and EZDrummer. Listen to some of our recent songs (links below) and judge for yourself how realistic the drums sound.
