Hi all,

I have an iMac and wanted to know if it would be possible to record an a capella song by myself, laying down several tracks.

If so, would you recommend a particular type of software to do this? I am pretty good with computers and software - both Macs and PC's - so that would not be an issue for me. I just need to know what works best (I have Garageband already installed, but not sure that would work for vocals - seems to be primarily for instruments.)

Also, what would be a good-quality mic that doesn't cost a fortune? The only mic I have right now is the one that's built in to the Mac.

Lastly, is it possible to do this without a soundproof room? Can anyone make any recommendations on this? Would it be better to do it in a closet??

Thanks for your input, and I will probably post this on the technical forum as well.

Anita
