Spring Tour! APRIL NEWSLETTER SPRING TOUR in MA, ME, CA, VT, MN, WI, PA, TN, MI and more)
I am writing from Crozet, VA from my home here, and outside someone is mowing a lawn. Disturbing the peace. It's motor-- BURRRGHRRRRR-- is making loud noises. But that's good news. It is a sign. Winter is over.
This Spring, I am busy being a writer-- finishing my first novel! I have completed 35 first chapters and have five to go! 76 thousand words! All with my thumbs on an iphone! What magic resides in these appendages!
This has eaten up my creative life since last Fall. It's a multi-media book, with recordings you can access from QR codes in the chapters, and there will be pen and ink illustrations. The main character is drawing the pictures in a journal, and he is broadcasting the songs in the apocalypse from a ham radio. But, it's a feel good end of the world story 😉.
For the rest of 2026, I will be drawing the journal entries and recording the broadcasts, and editing the chapters. And playing the new songs for you on stages around the US. Also, I am trying to find an agent and book publisher! Wish me luck! I'm committed to making it the best thing I've ever created. (Outside of my children, of course, but they were co-writes).
I wouldn't mind doing books for the rest of my working life. All tied together with music and art. I have always considered myself a creator, so this is the first time all the aspects of art that I love will be together; music, writing, and art. Though I guess some of my albums were illustrated, and that would count as well.
I am hitting the road hard this year, two kids in college. I should call it the "Pay the Tuition Tour". I would love to fill in some additional dates, if you are interested in private shows, let me know in the comments!

Hello, me beauties—❤️
I’m freshly home from the Swannanoa Gathering, where I taught songwriting for a week, and it never gets old. We all have corners of our lives we can happily wax on about—our children, our hobbies, and, if we’re lucky, our work.
I love songwriting. I love its history, its personalities, and its process. And I love teaching the craft.
That’s why I created The New England Songwriters Retreat in Chester, Connecticut. It’s a chance to immerse yourself in the art form and be mentored by a group of master songwriters with decades of experience as commercial writers, touring performers, and music business professionals.
The retreat is held at a beautiful retreat center with a cozy bed-and-breakfast atmosphere and a wonderful chef who prepares delicious, accommodating meals. From 8 a.m. until the wee hours of the morning, we’ll help you tap into your creative center—whether you’ve never written a song or you’re a professional touring artist looking for a creative reboot. We get ’em all, and we serve ’em all!

THE BOOK!
I’ve finished the first two drafts of my new novel, The Last Song Mankind Wrote. It’s a multimedia novel featuring audio recordings, original songs, and journal entries. It won’t be released until next year.
It’s… a lot.
Drawings. Music. Recordings.
It may be the best thing I’ve ever done. Or the craziest.
That’s in the eye of the beholder.
What I do know is that it’s exciting, new, demanding, and deeply challenging.
So I need to conquer it.
