My song "Nobody's Girl" was just released by Universal as part of the Bratz "Rock Angelz" CD. You'll find the CD at record stores, department stores, Amazon—pretty much everywhere. At my local Circuit City, the "Rock Angelz" CD was displayed prominently at a listening booth. (Was it wrong for me to put on headphones and look so enthused while listening that other shoppers came over to listen and bought the CD?) Individual songs (including "Nobody's Girl") can be purchased from ITunes and other such services. You can hear a clip of the song on ITunes or at the following websites: www.rockangelz.com www.bratzpack.com www.amazon.com www.walmart.com The clip on ITunes focuses on the verse; the other websites play more of the chorus. If you like "Nobody's Girl", please buy the "Rock Angelz" CD (or at least my song)! [This message has been edited by splitpeasongs (edited 08-07-2005).]

Thanks for your support, everyone! As Brian alluded, the CD debuted at #79 on the Billboard Top 200. It really is an amazing feeling opening up Billboard and seeing your song on the charts.

Thanks to all who have posted to express their support. It means a lot to me. I'm happy to report that "Nobody's Girl" seems to have been well-received by the press and consumers alike. Check out the customer reviews on Amazon (one listener gave the song 1000 on a scale of 1-10) and the press reviews at the following: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6878157&style=music&cart=266455296 http://www.masslive.com/ohare/repub...3252247450.xml&coll=1&thispage=2 If you're a songwriter, you'll find the latter review especially heartwarming. Now for the shameless plug: don't forget, the CD is available at record stores and online. Individual songs (including "Nobody's Girl") can be downloaded from ITunes and from other such sites. Tell all your friends! Thanks again, everyone! Hi, Ande. At the risk of oversimplifying: - I worked very hard to write a song that meant a lot to me and that I hoped would mean a lot to other people. - I pitched the song to every industry contact I thought could use it. - I was fortunate enough that the song generated quite a bit of interest. Almost everyone thought it could be a hit. - A deal was negotiated between my publishing company and the good people behind the Bratz project.

And the lesson for all of us is...
Work hard, write a good song, take the necessary steps to get it in front of people..
And good things happen !

Thanks, Bob. I'm sure there are many things I could have done better. I am quite pleased, however, with the result. Now to the task of writing that next hit! Mitch Originally posted by bob young: And the lesson for all of us is...

Your daughter has excellent taste, David. If you do in fact get the CD for her (something I highly recommend!), I hope both you and she like what you hear. Mitch Originally posted by DavidW: Wow Cool!

So, I am curious, you wrote the song and, they had the band perform it? Interesting. Hope you made a lot of money! That was a very catchy song by the way

Exactly right, Joseph. I wrote the song, and then the good people behind the Bratz project went into the studio and recorded it. I'm very pleased you found the song catchy. I think it's hard for a writer to know whether his/her own melody is catchy. Here's hoping the song is chosen to be released as a single! Originally posted by JosephAdy: So, I am curious, you wrote the song and, they had the band perform it? A few months? Ah, how nice life would be if it took only that long for royalties to find their way to the songwriter. A year is more like it. The Bratz single is in the top 20 in Australia; the CD debuted in the top 40 there. In the US, the CD just leaped up about 25 spots on the most recent Billboard chart. In Europe the CD comes out this week. The real charge for me is learning how much people seem to be enjoying "Nobody's Girl". One reviewer on Amazon gave the song a score of 1000 on a 1-10 scale. A website that tracks what songs people are listening to on their computers shows that "Nobody's Girl" is getting more spins than any other song on the Bratz CD. For me, that's what it's all about: writing songs that speak not only to myself but also other people. (Of course, royalties are nice, too!) Originally posted by peaden: Congratulations to you! You'll have to let us know in a few months if you're a millionaire yet!

The latest from Bratztown:
The Bratz "Rock Angelz" CD (which contains my song "Nobody's Girl") received this week's "Greatest Gainer" award on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart. The CD leapt from #134 to #102, up 32 spots. Interestingly, the CD is now considered a soundtrack as well as a pop/rock album because of the release of the Bratz "Rock Angelz" DVD; on Billboard's soundtrack chart the CD is at #2 this week.

The global domination continues! A few weeks ago the Bratz "Rock Angelz" CD was released in Australia. The first single is in the top 20 there, the CD in the top 30. A few days ago the Bratz CD was released by Universal in the UK. The first single is in the top 30 there. The BBC gave the CD a very nice review, singling out my song "Nobody's Girl" and urging that the CD deserves to be in the top 10: http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_4310000/newsid_4316300/4316320.stm Woo hoo! Thanks, Jessica! The "Rock Angelz" CD just debuted at #42 on the UK charts. On ITunes, "Nobody's Girl" is listed among the top songs from the "Rock Angelz" CD, both in the UK and here in the US. By the way, if anyone would like to hear some of my other songs, just go to the following webpage ( http://www.myspace.com/splitpeasongs) and look for the player on your right. I've uploaded four songs. Thanks for listening! Mitch Hunt Split Pea Songs Originally posted by Jessicaurick: Congratulations! Always nice to hear from another satisfied customer. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) The Bratz "Rock Angelz" CD continues to do well: after 4 months, the CD is still on the Billboard Top 200, this week at #117. Hi, all: Recently I was in a record store in Dubrovnik (Croatia), and the Bratz "Rock Angelz" CD was for sale there. How cool is that? Mitch Check out my new song "Don't Know Who I Am" at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=604368. Thoughts welcome!

Checked out your new song. I am not sure who your target is, but I first thought of Celine Dion. I hope that isn't a bad thing. I would think that would be a great thing.
