Hi rd, thanks for taking the time to comment yet a second time.. Well no blunder on your part. Yes this was already recorded as a rough vocal & guitar demo. I needed a few songs with a bit more porduction, to send off with a friend of mine who is traveling round the country, shopping his own material, and wanted to drop off something of mine in his travels to folks he knows who have upcoming televison projects. When somebody asks for something like that well you try to 'spin on a dime' so to speak. Although there are no guarantees something will come of it, I know if I do nothing , then nothing at all can happen. Also another example or lesson on how to freshen up something you got laying around.,as opposed to presenting the same material over & over while you're trying to get new projects off the ground. So it was and still is up for production crits or any suggestions for future reference, like if I were to record it again down the road.. Sub was able to oblige my request to have this done in just a few days. To get something of this quality that fast is amazing to me..Thanks again rd..Sue

Thanks again Linda, Ok No, not a sad song.. maybe the way I'm singing it. But i'ts just very emotional and visual.
And this is for anyone else reading this or listening too and maybe wondering..Imagine watching someone, in this case it's an athlete, but it could be a dancer, a musician, or even a showhorse..at their peak performance ability, (not necessarily famous , but you just know they are GREAT and should be or could be)And they are just doing what they do , with the sun shining all around them..,totally unaware of what that looks or feels like , to watch them.
I think Niteshift said it best "it's a slice of life" an internal photograph...

rd</font> Hi RD, Thanks but No need to apologize or to be careful. I thought your feedback was 100% positive anyway. Everything put up is for critique, feedback, support and encourgement. The point I think Sue was making was we are working with already finished CD's. Like buying a CD then adding overdubs over that and mixing it again Thanks Peace Sub

Sue&Sub...i have had another 3 listens to this, after i read some of the posts...IMHO..I cant see any major nits..nothing worth discussing..for what it is..a demo...under the circumstances and in the time scale in which it was done..its excellent...Sub you personally are in the business of enhancing peoples work..and good luck to you..but you know as well as me ..you cant make a gold purse out of a sow's ear..no amounts of enhancing will make a bad song good...and i am not being mean here..just realistic...when you get something like this to enhance..with a class vocal..it makes it all worthwhile..it doesnt come along that often..i would just like to make this offer to Sue....if you dont have any luck with this cut..i really love this melody..could i be allowed to do a re-write for you..and perhaps get "Amber " to record a demo of it say later in the year...only after you give it a chance to get out there...i hear a lot of nice orchestration in this song..of course the melody would always be yours..i wont alter that in any way shape or form..it would be interesting to see where it ends up..Terry..

I think i understood what you getting at. Yes it was easiser with Sue's work since it was very good to begin with. I don't think if "The sows ear" really has anything to do with this song. But I understand the point. Yes I do "Enhance" peoples recorded demos as one of the many services I perform so that maybe it can sound a bit better when they shop it or give it out. Lots of times they are home made demos any many times they come from bigger studios. Either way if they can sound better tha's what I'll do. If not I pass on the song and advise a re-recording or a re-mix. Lots of money can be saved for folks here if they don't have to re-record there song. In this case playing Bass, piano & percussion was the main thing required for the song. Also adjusting some levels on Sue's 2 track master recording. Actually I'm a songwriter & a musician first.. Then a producer an enginneer and so forth. This gives me an insight into all creative avenues. Quite often folks get confused as to what I actually do. One friend here thought i was a proffesional drummer and that was my main bag I like to call mostly what I do demos.. other people put my demos out on there CD's and call it there album. It all depends where your coming from and how you look at it I guess. Most of the time I have tracks that weren't recorded by me and 48 hours to finish the song. But either way always do the best you can. Not really sure of your suggestions so I'll leave Sue to the rest Peace Sue [This message has been edited by substudio (edited 12-03-2006).]

I never heard you sing before, but you have a great voice. Sub did an outstanding job on the production. I see two pages of accolades here so here's another one.

Hi Terry, I guess you like the song? And thanks for the compliment on the vocal. Not quite sure where the "sow's ear" comment was going, or was necessary. Just trying to write good songs and make them sound better. Thanks for dropping by . Sue

I think i got misunderstood here...the quotation was not in any way directed at this song..far from it..it was a generalisation..i get people coming along to me asking can this be done and can that be done to make the song better etc etc..i just tell them im not a miracle worker..i cant make a gold purse out of a sows ear..its just a saying i use.....THEN ,say something like this song drops in your lap....that is a different story...i do hope this clears up my intent on that post.. Sorry if i offended anyone..it was never my intention..as Winston Churchill once famously quoted...AMERICA&The UK..are two great nations...divided by a common language....i think that applies to my previous post...just a wee mix up in communication...or possibly its me more like..i will definately need to brush up on my communication skills,we have a different "lingo" here in Scotland..you noticed i said Scotland..i dont and never will regard myself as "english"..we talk and act differently to them..id better shut up now as their may be some english chappies reading this...dont want to go upsetting them as well..lol....Terry..

Sue: This one shines real nice. Hats off twice to Sub and you for putting together a classic sort of song. I got a lot of enjoyment from your voice SUe and Sub's real souful instinctful ( is that a word?) bass playing. It is nice when you can really feel the song. I think this one did that to me.
GOod work...Paul
