In a different thread here, Bill Draper wrote: "flexible like rubber band…Watch out for back lash though". I found that song idea so inspiring. I had to write a song about it. Here's Rubber Band Love. Thank you Bill!

Rubber Band Love
https://soundclick.com/song/15219509

[Intro]
Oh-oh-oh, rubber band love

[Verse]
Our love’s like a rubber band, take it or leave it
We say goodbye, slam the door, but we don’t mean it
I walk out sayin’ “this time I’m done”
Two blocks later I’m already on the run
Back to you like I never even planned
Ain’t it funny what it does, a rubber band

[Pre-chorus]
We stretch it out, we let it go
How far can we take it? Nobody knows

[Chorus]
Rubber band love, snap me back to you
Every time I leave, that’s what I do
Pull me away, I come right back again
Oh-oh-oh, rubber band love
Rubber band love, strong and a little crazy
Might go too far, but it won’t break, baby
I keep comin’ back, just can’t get enough
Oh, can’t get enough, rubber band love
Oh-oh-oh, rubber band love

[Break]

[Verse]
We bend and we twist, but we don’t fall apart
Got a whole lotta stretch in a stubborn heart
We push it wide, we test that line
You say yours and I say mine
But something ‘bout you I just can’t outrun
You let me go… and here I come

[Pre-chorus]
We laugh it off, we make a scene
We’re somewhere in the in-between

[Bridge]
If you let me fly too far, I just might
Come back with a little backlash tonight
We keep stretchin’ it thin, playin’ pretend
One little snap and that’s the end

[Final chorus]
Rubber band love, snap me back to you
Every time I leave, that’s what I do
Pull me away, I come right back again
Oh-oh-oh, rubber band love
Rubber band love, strong and a little wild
Stretch me out, cause I’m your style
I keep comin’ back, just can’t get enough
Oh, can’t get enough, rubber band love

[Outro]
Oh-oh-oh, rubber band love
Oh-oh-oh, rubber band love
Oh-oh-oh, rubber band love

I think "Rubber band love" was your original thought... that's why it seems a bit "on the nose". Know what I mean?

Always leaving, can't get away
Elastic foreplay, here to stay
Loosely bound, a lover's knot
A little wild, a little hot
Push me away, I return
With a sting, obsession burns
There I go, here I am
Snapping back like a rubber band

Hey Tony,
totally get what you mean—it’s definitely leaning into the metaphor. I just couldn’t resist the whole ‘snap back like a rubber band’ idea! I really like the imagery in your version too - it’s very vivid and sexy.

-A female VOX
-POV descriptive lyrics
-Perhaps something just a little "kinky"

What's going on in the mind of a girl like that?
Who's truly the victim? Is there a victim?
Is it manipulation? Who's really in control?
How much pain is pleasure?
Addiction?

I'm thinking vivid "show don't tell" lyrics...

"We bend and we twist, but we don’t fall apart
Got a whole lotta stretch in a stubborn heart
We push it wide, we test that line
You say yours and I say mine
But something ‘bout you I just can’t outrun
You let me go… and here I come"

{Twisted and bent, I fall into you
A sinister heart, nothing better to do
Biting, scratching, testing the limits
I'm here but I'm not, no commitment
A spider, a fly, an insidious spell
Master or Mistress, who can tell}

Tony,
I get what you mean - it's definitely a pretty direct metaphor. I guess I leaned into that on purpose because I was aiming for a catchy, 70s-style pop feel. I actually had the band Pilot in mind when I wrote it, and those songs were often a bit “on the nose,” but super memorable and easy to sing along to.
That said, I really like the direction you started - there’s some great imagery in there. I’d love to see where you take it if you keep going with it.

But, if you think this may ruin your "AI POP" reputation, I understand wink

I never would have imagined the interpretations. Great extension Rob and Tony. Physical tangible elasticity…old brittle bones snap.

I was thinking mental flexibility as well. Change. More difficult as a person ages, etc.

Tony, I really appreciate you taking the time to write all this - there are some great ideas in there. It's completely different. I think I’m going to stick with my original direction for this one and see it through on my own, but I enjoyed reading your take.

Yes, Ben says that to you over and over again. Dom, I’d appreciate feedback on the song rather than how I work. Everyone’s process is different. I won't explain to you how I recorded parts of this song and mixed the individual tracks (Stems) together with my own in a semi-professional studio. You wouldn't understand the process and wouldn't believe me anyway.

Dom, you wrote: "As Ben has said over and over again, stop pressing buttons, get into the studio and record". He says that to you over and over again. Why are you posting that here? This has nothing to do with my song. Where's your song feedback?

Either? Who else is not treated well?

You've got something completely wrong. We post songs here. Normally we should get feedback on the songs. You are one of the few here who don't talk about the songs but talk about the people posting the songs.

Come on Dom. Say something about my song. Not about me, just the song I posted. Is that too much to ask for?

I mean anybody can say anything. Im the only one who talls or teues to talk somgs.

Or music, or ai as in music, or theory, or examples of great songs, .

Simply ask MARTY, the reason ge started his campaign against me was cause I commented on songs.

Stop trying to dare me to comment.

Be real, with me and everybody. Stop these foolish games.

One thing i have not mastered is the ability to pretend eveey5hing is great..

I domt even feel that way about my own stuff, I end up thinking slot of it sucks.

Everybody is trial and error and hit and miss.
Its helpful to know which is which

Yeah sure Dom. You're really the only one on this site who "talls or teues to talk somgs". You're demonstrating that here. Everything you wrote here in my thread so far was about my song. If you say so. I didn't understand most of it anyway. I've learned that it makes no sense to disagree with you.

You should either learn how to spell words correctly or activate a spelling checker. It's hard to understand "eveey5hing" you write.

Im the song Nazi...

Sidetrack
hi jack,
Get offa my cloud.

I was thinking this am of Pat Pattinson’s ‘object’ writing exercise, the object here……rubber band.

Go:

Elastic stretch hooked in fingers. Snap. Sting. Red mark spreading on your bare arm. Face grimace. Palm on face. Smack. Tears roll. Headache. Small elastic weaponizer shows my dislike of your smug, but my remorse gag is large and guilt bagged. I reach for silk soft fabric and wrap your arm tenderly, secured by elastic band

Verse 1
Elastic stretch between your fingers
Tension builds, I feel it linger
Snap, a sting across your skin
Red mark where I let it in

Verse 2
Face tight, yeah I see it now
Didn’t mean to hurt you, how
Did it turn from laugh to pain
In a second I can’t explain

Passion's heat begs for clarity
Stretching fantasy to infidelity

Hey guys,
Bill, i see you're going in a different direction. Tony is too. Dom, as always, is stuck in the in-between. Honestly, the more I listen to my song, the more I like it. Give me something to listen to. Maybe I'll change my mind.

Never tried the object writing before…..freely associate….write a bunch of stuff…. Then what?

Maybe, guilt has a social function….keeps us human? Admit mistake, make amends…..be socially flexible?

Here's a "Head Game" for you, Bill...

Twisted and bent, drawn into you
A fickle heart, nothing better to do
Biting, scratching, testing the limits
I'm here but I'm not, no commitment
A spider, a fly, an insidious spell
Master or Mistress, who can tell

An eager slave, vulnerable skin
A thirsty canvas for sensual sin

Always leaving, can't get away
Elastic foreplay, here to stay
A little wild, a little hot
Loosely bound, a sailor's knot
Push me away, I return
With a sting, obsession burns
There I go, here I am
Slapping back like a rubber band

Flaming pink, blushing innocence
Pleasure, pain, wickedness
Flexible fetish, searing serenity
A thousand injuries, ecstasy
A virtuous bride is lovingly kissed
A cheating vixen is patiently punished

Passion's heat begs for clarity
Stretching fantasy to infidelity

Always leaving, can't get away
Elastic foreplay, here to stay...

A salacious secret must keep
No visible harm to discover
A tempestuous game indeed
Both players binding each other
A forbidden addiction so sweet
Not to be shared with a lover

That is a careful stretch of imagination I think.

could the chorus be:

Passion's heat begs for clarity
Stretching fantasy to infidelity
Always leaving, can't get away
Elastic foreplay, here to stay...

Last line could be?

Only shared with one true lover

Darn... it's not making sense lol.

They're both playing "the game", there is no infidelity...

So, yeah'... arrange away grin

Lines I didn't use;
Feels good to be bad...
Pretend to be strangers...

I tried to be highly suggestive without "spoon feeding" the listener wink

No it’s good. And understandable. Last line good too.

But. What genre? What would doctor Ruth say? Is she still around? 😄

You are always the victim , The studios are waiting Dom , it's a tad harder than pushing a button , you actually have to work. They won't bite ya
