Well Guy , this is one song of yours that actually tried to say something, so I'll try to review.
I like the first verse,
Id change pre chorus to FLY not try, birds don't try...
I think the wording for chorus is a bit preachy. You can say what I think your trying to say just by examples only, don't need to tell people how to think.
I don't like the second example about the boy as much.
Equating birds wanting to fly, and someone wanting to die is I guess ok, both natural forces and we shouldn't try to stop it,if that's their wish.
Hey Guy, this is a really touching and quietly powerful song — simple, folk-like, and deeply human. It already has a strong emotional backbone. In my opinion, what it could possibly use is a little polish for rhythm, natural phrasing, and poetic flow — without losing its innocence or universality. Here are a few ideas.
