Have any of you used the MXL9090 mics? They claim to be similar to the V67i.
That, I think, is a fairly recent addition to their stable, at least it wasn't on their site the last time I visited, and I have not used it. If it's like the rest of the 900 series mics it has a 5/8" diaphragm so is really a medium, not large, diaphragm mic. The V67i is a true large diaphragm mic with a 1 1/2" diaphragm. It also has a -10dB pad switch to reduce low end noise and that can be helpful in some situations. Other than that the charts look very close. I own the MXL990 and it's pretty harsh compared to the other MXL mics I have so I seldom use it. I too need to look into better pre-amps.
