Hello Doug, Man, do I fully understand your rant! My husband and I do as much charity work as we do work to pay our bills! It's like we are living the lives of ten people.
What I might suggest is that you actually choose a charity that truly aligns with some cause you wish to support. Then, do what you can to help that cause when you feel you can do so.
Then, when other charities call you, just tell them that you have YOUR charity and to please take you off their list!
There are several great charities out that that do amazing work to rid this planet of things which make it harder for all of us to live on it. Contributing to something you believe in is a great feeling. But, fielding all the calls...well...that totally sucks!
I screen all my calls now. It's also a pain, but I'd rather do that than to spend my entire day telling someone why I don't want to help them.
Hang in there!
