What made the 60s social awareness songs so good is that they focussed on one theme or event....


Ohio was Kent State, For What Its Worth was about protest marches and the police\national guard, Chicago was about the imfamous political convention....


It's also what I tried to do with my own "paying the cost of freedom" and "45 tons of tea"


I think it's more effective with one message and one message only...


So I'd say focus on the irony of soldiers fighting and dying for the right of free speech, but lose the global warming etc....
